SHOWY LADY SLIPPER  (Cypul pedium hiristum)

From the orchid family, this state flower of Minnesota is rare indeed.  It was an exciting day when I discovered a large group of them growing in a wet marshy area across the pond from Rudy's home.  The flower got its name because it resembles a delicate little slipper.  -page 102,  Reflections of a Country Publisher
